Microsoft Office Is Being Removed from Home Use Program

Previously I had bought the same for Office I have downloaded and apparently successfully installed the 64 bit version. I have done this twice now. Both times after installing and updating, my Office products still say they are rather than For example Microsoft Excel says it is v I have tried contacting Microsoft but have been unable to do so, so I'm trying this forum.

Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Don't forget, Office is the Onetime payment version. It's feature set was frozen at it's release date, Oct It does NOT include all of the features that were added to Office A big thank you to both Palcouk and Rohn By combining both of your replies, and reading the following link, I was able to solve my problem. Confirmed what Rohn said by looking up the latest commercial Excel actually Office version was I had both the and versions installed, both were showing exactly the same version number and both were showing they were installed yesterday Office was installed a few years ago so I suspected confusion.

So, following a combination of Palcouk and the link where someone suggested they uninstalled and "magically appeared" I uninstalled the version using Control Panel. The uninstall worked, and I was relieved to see my products didn't disappear. I launched Excel and looked at the version under Account used to be File Account, but that had changed.

It was now showing as Microsoft Office Proplus, and indicating that updates were available. I successfully installed the updates and restarted as suggested by the update process. So I now have access to Office functions that I did not have access to until I uninstalled from the Control Panel. Thanks again both and I hope this helps others who may read it.

Maybe someone will improve the Home Use documentation at some point too. First time I've had to go to such lengths to make an install work properly! After doing the uninstall, I would follow up with an Office Repair to reset Windows to completely look at Here are some similar articles describing how to do Office Repairs for various versions of Office and Windows.

Pick the one that easiest for you to understand. It ran for a while - longer than the initial install. The only noticeable change I could see afterwards was that the repair had removed the shortcuts to the Office products I had previously pinned to the taskbar. I've always thought a bit more info from a repair would be informative. I think I can now guess at why my subscription is showing as Office Plus rather than Office Professional Plus.

According to that I have used up three installs of Office. Two of these are for work machines and I would guess are Office Plus "licensed", the third is on my home PC.

I do use O with my work account on my Home PC. I would not expect my work account to display that I have installed Office on my home PC - that of course is an option, but it's one I chose not to follow. I would expect to see that I had only used two installs for Office and those to be on work PCs. Who knows what will happen on my home PC if my work account Office license is clawed back in the future. At least I have the install file I can fall back on if I do lose access to the products.

The HUP is tied to your work license for Office. It is an explicit license term, when you stop working for that employer, you are supposed to stop using that HUP license. Thanks again. I didn't explain my bit fully, I was using it to point out what I think is a confusion between the HUP and work license.

I'm not the only person who has access to that device in the household or the capability of buying a HUP license through their work. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
